1. Introduction

Burst Medical Billing, LLC (“Burst Billing,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides medical billing and revenue recovery services to skilled nursing facilities and other senior care providers. We respect your privacy, and this Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through our website, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.

This Privacy Policy applies to information collected through burstbilling.com and any other websites or pages we operate that link to this Privacy Policy (together, the “Site”). It also applies to information you provide when you contact us by phone or email or schedule a meeting with us through a link on the Site.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to the billing services we perform for our facility clients. When we perform those services, we handle patient information as a business associate under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (“HIPAA”), and our handling of that information is governed by written business associate agreements with our clients and by our internal privacy and security policies, not by this Privacy Policy. Section 10 explains this in more detail.

By using the Site, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our practices, please do not use the Site.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide to Us

We collect information that you choose to provide to us through the Site. This includes:

Contact and assessment requests. When you submit our contact form or request a billing assessment, we collect your name, work email address, phone number, the name of your facility or organization, and any other information you include in your message.
Scheduling information. When you schedule a meeting with us through a scheduling link on the Site, we collect your name, email address, and the date and time you select. Scheduling is provided through Google Calendar, and Google’s handling of that information is described in Google’s own privacy policy.
Communications. When you contact us by phone, email, or through the Site, we collect the contents of your communication and the contact information you use to reach us.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you visit the Site, we and our service providers automatically collect certain information about your device and your use of the Site. This includes your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, the pages you view, the date and time of your visit, how long you spend on each page, and the website that referred you to us. We collect this information through cookies and similar technologies, including Google Analytics, as described in Section 4.

2.3 The Revenue Estimator

Our Site includes a revenue estimator tool that lets you enter information about your facilities, such as the number of locations and estimated monthly reimbursement amounts, to calculate a potential recovery estimate. The estimator performs its calculations in your browser. The numbers you enter into the estimator are not transmitted to us and are not stored by us. If that changes in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy before collecting that information.

2.4 Information We Do Not Collect Through the Site

Please do not submit patient information through the Site. The Site is intended for business inquiries from facility administrators and operators. It is not designed or intended to receive protected health information, patient records, resident names, or any other individually identifiable health information. Please do not include any patient or resident information in a contact form, estimator entry, or email inquiry. If you are an existing client, please transmit patient information only through the secure channels established in your services agreement with us.

We also do not collect payment card information through the Site, and we do not knowingly collect any information from children, as described in Section 9.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information described in Section 2 for the following purposes:

To respond to your inquiries, provide the assessments and information you request, and communicate with you about our services.
To schedule and conduct meetings that you request.
To send you information about our services that we believe may interest you. You may opt out of these communications at any time, as described in Section 7.
To operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site, including understanding how visitors use the Site so we can make it more useful.
To protect against, investigate, and respond to fraud, unauthorized access, security incidents, and other misuse of the Site.
To comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests from government authorities, and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

We do not use the information we collect through the Site for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects, and we do not use it to train artificial intelligence models.

4. Cookies and Analytics

4.1 What Cookies We Use

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. The Site uses two categories of cookies:

Essential cookies. These are necessary for the Site to function properly, including for security and basic site operations. They cannot be switched off through the Site.
Analytics cookies. We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors use the Site. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information such as your IP address, device and browser information, the pages you visit, and how you arrived at the Site. This information is transmitted to and stored by Google.

Our Cookie Policy lists each cookie we use, its purpose, and how long it is kept.

4.2 Your Choices About Cookies and Analytics

Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies through your browser settings. If you block essential cookies, some parts of the Site may not work properly.
You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

4.3 Do Not Track and Opt-Out Preference Signals

Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting or can transmit opt-out preference signals such as the Global Privacy Control. Because we do not sell personal information and do not share it for targeted advertising, there is no sale or sharing for such signals to opt you out of. The Site does not respond to Do Not Track signals in a way that changes its data collection, and the analytics choices described above are available to all visitors regardless of browser settings.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for targeted advertising. We have not sold or shared personal information for targeted advertising in the preceding twelve months. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

Service providers. We share information with companies that perform services on our behalf, such as website hosting, form processing, analytics (Google Analytics), scheduling (Google Calendar), and email and business productivity services. These providers are permitted to use your information only to perform services for us and are required to protect it.
Legal requirements. We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, regulation, subpoena, or other legal process, or is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Burst Billing, our clients, our visitors, or the public.
Business transfers. If Burst Billing is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or part of its business, information we hold may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will require that your information remain subject to protections consistent with this Privacy Policy.
With your direction or consent. We may share information for other purposes when you direct us to or give us your consent.

We may also share information that has been aggregated or de-identified so that it no longer reasonably identifies you.

6. How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep personal information collected through the Site only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. In general, we retain business inquiry and contact information while we have an active relationship or ongoing conversation with you and for a reasonable period afterward, so that we can respond if you return to us. We retain analytics data for the retention period configured in Google Analytics. We may retain information longer where required by law, to resolve disputes, or to enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or de-identify it.

7. Your Marketing Choices

If we send you marketing or informational emails about our services, each message will include an unsubscribe link. You may also opt out at any time by emailing us at support@burstbilling.com with the word “unsubscribe” in the subject line. We will honor your request within ten business days. Even after you opt out of marketing messages, we may still send you non-marketing communications, such as responses to your inquiries.

8. Your Privacy Rights

A number of U.S. states have comprehensive privacy laws that give their residents rights over personal information held by businesses, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon, and others. Depending on where you live and whether a particular law applies to Burst Billing, you may have some or all of the following rights. As a matter of policy, we extend these rights to all visitors who contact us, regardless of where they live:

Right to know and access. You may request confirmation of whether we process your personal information and request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
Right to correction. You may request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
Right to deletion. You may request that we delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to exceptions permitted by law.
Right to portability. You may request a copy of your personal information in a portable and readily usable format.
Right to opt out of sales, targeted advertising, and profiling. You may direct businesses not to sell your personal information, share it for targeted advertising, or use it for certain profiling. As stated in Section 5, we do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising, and we do not engage in profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
Right to non-discrimination. We will not deny you services, charge you different prices, or provide a different level of service because you exercised any of these rights.

8.1 How to Exercise Your Rights

To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@burstbilling.com with the subject line “Privacy Request,” or write to us at the address in Section 13. Please tell us which right you wish to exercise and provide your name, email address, and state of residence so that we can locate your information and respond.

We will need to verify your identity before acting on your request. We will do this by matching the information in your request against information we already hold, and we may ask you to confirm your request from the email address associated with your information. We will respond within forty-five days of receiving your request. If we need more time, we will tell you why and may extend our response period by an additional forty-five days where the law allows.

You may authorize an agent to submit a request on your behalf. We will require proof that you authorized the agent and may still need to verify your identity directly.

8.2 Appeals

If we decline to act on your request, we will explain why. If you disagree with our decision, you may appeal by replying to our response with the subject line “Privacy Appeal” within a reasonable time after our decision. We will respond to your appeal within forty-five days. If your appeal is unsuccessful, you may contact your state attorney general to submit a complaint.

8.3 Notice Regarding Nevada Residents

Nevada law allows Nevada residents to opt out of the sale of certain personal information. We do not sell personal information as defined by Nevada law. Nevada residents may nonetheless submit an opt-out request to support@burstbilling.com, which we will honor if our practices change.

9. Children’s Privacy

The Site is a business-to-business website intended for use by adults in the senior care industry. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of eighteen. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Site, please contact us at support@burstbilling.com and we will delete it.

10. A Note About Protected Health Information

Burst Billing provides billing services to healthcare facilities. In performing those services, we receive and process protected health information as a “business associate” under HIPAA. That information is governed by HIPAA, by the business associate agreements we sign with each client, and by our internal privacy and security program. It is not intended to be collected through the public pages of this Site, and this Privacy Policy does not apply to it.

If you are a patient, resident, or family member with questions about health information held by a facility we serve, please contact that facility directly. The facility is the responsible covered entity under HIPAA, and we are not authorized to respond to individual requests about patient information except at a client’s direction.

11. How We Protect Your Information

We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the information we collect through the Site, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS/TLS), access controls that limit information to personnel who need it, and multi-factor authentication on the systems we use to store business contact information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we learn of a security incident affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by applicable law, including state breach notification statutes.

12. Third-Party Sites, Social Media, and International Visitors

The Site contains links to third-party websites and to our profiles on social media platforms such as LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and Reddit. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and platforms, and this Privacy Policy does not apply to them. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party site you visit.

The Site is operated from the United States and is intended for visitors in the United States. If you visit the Site from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make changes, we will post the updated policy on this page and revise the “Last Updated” date at the top. If we make material changes to how we collect, use, or share personal information, we will provide more prominent notice, such as a notice on the Site’s homepage, before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect means the updated policy applies to your use.
